Welcome to the brand new Streets of Dublin website. As you can see there's been quite a few changes, and this is the start of the second phase of the Streets of Dublin project. First of all, we have a new domain. The site is now thestreetsofdublin.ie - so it's a proper Irish domain! The old .com address is now re-directing to the new one, so you don't have to change anything.
The old Tumblr site is still there and I'm going to continue to update it as there are lots of tumblr followers. Tumblr has always really been more of a social media network, and it works better that way. As I said, I'm going to keep posting to it, so if you're a tumblr member you can still get updates via tumblr too!
I've re-designed the logo too, to be a little simpler and cleaner. The site itself, for those interested in such things, is running on SquareSpace. This gives me a lot of flexibility to expand and enhance the site without having to hire lots of programmers. The main reason for the change though is for the content.
In the past I've mainly posted a picture at a time or maybe a few together, but I want to start adding more context and stories to be able to go with the images. So while I'll still be posting single and small collections of images, I'll also be posting longer form content, such as stories and essays. It also gives me a better place to keep you informed of any interesting changes or news about the project. Our social media feeds will keep going as usual too, but there'll be more links to content here too.
Help us get the word out
The Streets of Dublin project has been a great success so far, and I've been blown away by the responses, but I want to take it much further, and I need your help. If you have a blog or a social media account please post/tweet/Facebook/Instagram etc about the new site and help get the traffic going. It takes a while to build up an audience and I want to hit the ground running so I can create a great experience for all those who visit the site.
I also wanted to say a big thank you to all the visitors from all over the world that have followed us on Facebook, Twitter etc and have left lovely and kind comments over the years. It's for you that we do this, and keep doing it. So thank you, and stay tuned. We're only getting started!
